In the magical world of Disney Dreamlight Valley, where friendship is the key to progress, the “Storm’s A-Brewin’!” quest marks a significant turning point in your relationship with the newest emotional resident, Sadness. This quest, a central part of the recent Inside Out-themed “Emotional Rescue” update, is Sadness’s first friendship quest. It’s a multi-faceted journey that goes beyond simple collection tasks, requiring you to understand the emotional state of the Valley’s residents and ultimately leading to a powerful new ability for your Royal Watering Can. This comprehensive guide will walk you through every step of this poignant and rewarding quest.

The quest begins when you speak to Sadness, who is feeling overwhelmed by the gloomy rain clouds appearing around the Valley and believes she is responsible. Your mission is to help her understand that her emotions are a natural part of life and that it’s okay to feel sad sometimes. The quest is a beautiful narrative experience that intertwines with the gameplay, reinforcing the themes of emotional maturity and friendship that are central to the game’s design. Be prepared for a journey that requires a bit of detective work, some crafting, and a surprising emotional breakthrough.

A Step-by-Step Walkthrough to Soothe the Valley

  1. Investigate the Rain Clouds: Sadness will task you with investigating the rain clouds that have popped up around the Valley. You will need to take a picture of one of these clouds. The quest gives you three possible locations to visit: Remy’s Restaurant, Scrooge McDuck’s Shop, and the Dream Castle. Simply visit any of these locations and use your in-game camera to snap a photo of a rain cloud.
  2. Talk to Joy and Collect Flowers: After you’ve taken your picture, find and speak with Joy. She will suggest that a gift of blue flowers might help cheer Sadness up. Your next objective is to collect 10 blue flowers from any biome in the Valley. The type of flower doesn’t matter, as long as they are blue.
  3. Craft and Comfort: Bring the blue flowers to Sadness. Unfortunately, the gift doesn’t have the desired effect. Sadness will open up about her feelings and suggest talking to the characters most affected by the rain clouds. Before you do this, you’ll need to craft some items. You’ll need the following materials:
    • 6 x Fiber (Crafted from Seaweed)
    • 13 x Softwood (Found in various biomes like the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow)
    • 5 x Night Shards (Found by digging in different biomes)
    • 5 x Sand (Found in the Dazzle Beach biome)

Use these materials to craft three Tissue Boxes and one pair of Crying Glasses.

  4. Put on the Crying Glasses and Talk to Remy: Equip the Crying Glasses and head to Remy’s Restaurant. The Crying Glasses will change your perspective, allowing you to see the world from Sadness’s point of view. Talk to Remy, and he will confess his anxieties about the restaurant. After your conversation, the rain clouds over the restaurant will disappear.
  5. Talk to Scrooge and Mickey: Next, visit Scrooge McDuck’s shop and speak with him. He will express his worries, and once you’ve talked through his feelings, the rain clouds over his shop will vanish. Finally, go to the Dream Castle and speak with Mickey. Unlike the others, Mickey will not be experiencing any problems but will offer Sadness some words of comfort, which will cause the clouds over the castle to disappear.
  6. Find the Remaining Clouds and Upgrade Your Watering Can: After speaking with all three characters, Sadness will still feel down. You must now venture into the Valley to find any remaining rain clouds and take a picture with one. They can often be found in the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow. Once you’ve captured a photo, return to Sadness. She will suggest using her tears to water the clouds, which provides a permanent upgrade to your Royal Watering Can.
  7. Water the Clouds and Discover a Secret: Now that your watering can is upgraded, use it to water the rain clouds scattered around the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow. On the fourth cloud you water, a giant teddy bear body will appear. Pick it up and take it to Sadness. She will tell you to hold on to it for now, noting that it may be connected to the plush bear head you received in Joy’s “Capture the Sun” quest.

By completing these steps, you will successfully finish the “Storm’s A-Brewin’!” quest. This journey not only helps Sadness feel a bit better but also rewards you with a valuable upgrade to your watering can and unveils a new mystery about the teddy bear parts. It’s a perfect example of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s ability to weave meaningful storytelling into its gameplay, making even the simplest quests feel like a significant step forward in your grand adventure.
